For years, Western societies and large swaths of global public opinion have been subjected to a recurring act of conceptual fraud, the insistence on separating Islam from Islamism, as though the two represent distinct phenomena or fundamentally different structures.
So I have a question: where do the Muslims sit who declare Islam a religion of peace? Are they cherry picking verses from the Prophet’s pre-warlord time? How does this piece of mental gymnastics work?
And - I know multiple Gülen Muslims / Turks who are adamant about declaring Islam to be a peaceful religion. Ie - The only difference between the cast out Gülen and Erdogan that I can find so far is that the first wants the Global Caliphate through means of peace and interfaith dialogue and the attempt to create an Ottoman Empire of the Mind - and the latter through means of war and oppression. I would love IDI to elaborate on this particular arm of Sunni Islam and how they sit opposite each other, contradict or overlap in their Islamic teachings.
