On July 7, French president Emmanuel Macron visited the “Umayyad Mosque” in Damascus alongside Ahmed al-Sharaa/Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, the new, self-appointed president of Syria, who is the former head of the Syrian Al Qaeda.
The so-called “Umayyad Mosque” is a former Christian Byzantine cathedral that was demolished by Arab Muslim invaders in the 8th century.
Macron’s visit of the “mosque” with a former Al Qaeda leader was one of the many demonstrations of how some Western leaders are enabling the Islamic conquest of the Western world and abandoning the persecuted Christians of the Levant.
The Levant is a historical and geographic region in the Eastern Mediterranean. It roughly corresponds to Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Judea and Samaria (the West Bank), the Gaza Strip, Jordan, and often Cyprus and Hatay/Antioch (province) of Turkey.
This region was once majority-Christian. Today, the entire Levant, with two notable exceptions (Israel and the free part of the Republic of Cyprus), are in Muslim hands. Approximately 36 percent of the territory of the Republic of Cyprus is under illegal Turkish military occupation. The Republic of Lebanon, which used to be majority-Christian, is now majority-Muslim. In addition, the terror group Hezbollah significantly undermines Lebanon’s sovereignty through military, social, and political roles.
