Instead of asking whether they would defend their country under any circumstances, perhaps they should have asked: “If you had the choice between fighting or living under sharia, what would you choose?”
As for eye for an eye, the idea that the whole world would go blind if our governments enforced such a law is nonsense. How many people do you know who lost an eye because someone purposeful blinded them? I’d wager not many (if any). And I’d bet that if eye for an eye was the punishment, there’d be even fewer people who were purposefully blinded because the fear of punishment - particularly severe punishment - is a very powerful motivator.
Was Jesus against eye for an eye? He was certainly against people taking the law into their own hands, but there is no evidence to suggest he was against the government punishing criminals. And I can find no examples of Jesus opposing the laws God gave Israel through Moses (they certainly would have used that against him at his trial if he did).
I have no problem with eye for an eye or a life for a life. But perhaps that’s because I don’t believe death is the end of the story. I believe God’s love is unconditional, all powerful, never ending, and that even death cannot separate the worst of people from the love of God. That’s why I have no problem with the death penalty. Sometimes we just have to hand people over to God and trust he can do for them what we cannot (for more on this see ‘Until the Last One’s Found’ by Curt Parton).
It doesn’t matter. A head for an eye is the same hate dressed up as a righteous political religion. As long as the Jews remain righteous in their political religious practice of an eye for an eye, and the Muslims kill infidel unbelievers in their righteous defense of the most perfect human prophet of Islam, and the Socialists/Communists kill those who disagree with them, then all of this will not stop. It’s a vicious circle of hate. Hate feeds on more hate. Point it out with righteous rage. Blame Trump or?? Embrace the hate and become just like those you hate. Yeah, that’s the ticket. But a ticket to where?
Only one man said different: turn the other cheek, forgive those who persecute you. UNACCEPTABLE! A danger to their political religious government. But killing His body didn’t work. That was just a part of the plan and a precursor for what He’s got coming next. Can you afford to ignore that? If yes, then continue to embrace the hate and killing. Howl at the moon because nothing any human leader can do will stop it now.
You are a fool. This does not apply to nations that are expected to protect their citizens from harm. And a man who loves his children is expected to fight for their lives. Jesus was not telling us to piously watch them be brutalized.
Don. I can understand how you feel but here's what Jesus said: “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” Did He preach an eye for an eye or was that the Jewish political leaders..the ones He called hypocrites and sons of vipers.
Christianis in Africa are being slaughtered everyday. Their land and homes are being taken. The women are being raped, men killed and the children are being trafficked to other countries. You don't hear about it because they aren't blacks who live in Chicago or Detroit.
You really need to learn who Jesus was and what He taught. It will change your life.
