How many on the Left I wonder, are, in large part, ignorant of, and completely incurious about, Islam? Muslims are, in the West, a minority. As such, 'minority status' is enough for the Left, especially when a "phobia" can be attached to the minority. For younger 'passionate' Leftists maybe it's this simple? They don't need / want to know / think any more about it.

Most self-identified "leftists" are contemptuous of religion and look down on it as quaint and vaguely beneficent, without taking it seriously or learning much about it. They also see themselves as "multicultural" without much cultural literacy, and "educated" without much geography or history. It is maddening, especially when trying to engage them on specifics. They are culturally puritanical and protestants with no knowledge of where either of those words came from, very fond of drama triangles and simplistic fairy tales.

Hm, this is an interesting idea but contains some pretty big generalisations, e.g. the idea that “the left” shows solidarity with Hamas. That would surely be an extreme minority, not “the left”. Solidarity with Palestinians ≠ solidarity with Hamas.

Incorrect, because the vast majority of "Palestinians" support/love Hamas.

Molly Scarlett 🌿🫒's avatar

Well even if that's true it's not the left showing solidarity with Hamas. If you support someone does that mean you support all their beliefs? No.

How do they show support? Answer: by chanting from the river to the sea. Do you know what that means? If, on the other hand, what you mean is support in terms of providing food, water, and liberation from Hamas, well, Israel is doing all that much better than anyone on the left.

You truly must have a profound form of cognitive dissonance to believe that. That is a straw man fallacy, you are clearly arguing in bad faith.

I am trying to provoke you into thinking clearly by providing you a hyperbolic false dilemma. Aristotle, the master of logic, also valued rhetoric. Ask yourself, how does the left help or support Palestinians?

You're either hopelessly ignorant or just a liar.

That's an enlightening argument 😂

A brilliant insight.

Socialislam has no need for a shared philosophy.

All it needs is a mutual.enemy that must be destroyed by all.ans any means possible

Hell has no denominational schisms , Satan will use any pronouns that you want.

much of the left probably believes that once they get what they want with the help of islam, then they can cahnge islam into being good

much like women who believe they can fix a guy who is all kinds of stupid

I have a philosophical conundrum, Mr Amin (Idi, geddit?,) in that, whilst i hold no truck with Islam, nor do i deign any affection for Christianity or Judeism (sic). One might marvel at the achievements of the past without wish to repeat it. The Peoples of The Book are, uniformally, sociopathic in nature. Any "moral" highround seems entirely relative in a time of Total Fungability. The "West", of which i am a biproduct, detritus, (in Turcher's words) an anti-elite; is loathesome, infected by bad meme-ware, possessed by demonic 'garks, who suck our Culture dry, chop it up to monetise it & enshittify everything They touch. I say "Push the fucking Button". Year Zero. YZ. Let's see what comes out of the wood chipper 👏
